How we work

We work alongside your team, train them and hand over.

Every engagement has a fixed term and a planned exit. Each month your people lead more of the work, until they run it without us.

Shown as a nine-month engagement. Terms run from three to twelve months, and every one has a planned exit.
  1. Co-work

    Months 1–7

Our specialists join your programme team. Together we build the benefits map, register, valuation and measures on your live programme, with a named counterpart from your side on each piece.

  2. Train

    Throughout

Your people learn on that live work. Benefits Academy sessions, SRO briefings and one-to-one coaching cover what the live work does not.

  3. Build your team

    Months 3–8

We help you design the roles a benefits function needs, draft job descriptions and skills tests, and coach new starters through their first months.

  4. Hand off

    Months 8–9

You keep the method, the models and the register. A skills check confirms your team can run them before we step back.

After handover you can keep light-touch assurance through our Realisation Service, or stop there.

The software, built alongside

From the first week your team works in the Civic Gains toolkit, a spreadsheet and Power BI kit that runs in your own Microsoft tools and needs no new hosting approval. We are building the Civic Gains Platform on the same data model, so your register can move across when it is ready.

About the Civic Gains Platform

Why Civic Gains

Built to leave capability behind.

  • Green BookHow we appraise and value benefits
  • Teal BookHow we identify, plan and manage them
  • Magenta BookHow we design evaluations
  • GovS 002The delivery standard our work meets
The guidance we work to. Each spine opens the official publication. Civic Gains is independent and is not endorsed by any government body.
  • Your people, named from day one

Every engagement names counterparts in your team and ends with a skills check. We don’t supply open-ended staff substitution.

  • Methods that match the guidance

We work to Teal Book chapter 19, the February 2026 Green Book and the Magenta Book, so our outputs drop straight into business cases and GRIP returns.

  • Economist sign-off

An experienced appraisal economist reviews and signs off every valuation before it reaches you.

  • Everything stays yours

Models, registers and data belong to you, in formats your team already uses.
